Christmas To-Do List : {Making Memories}

Our Christmas to do list usually starts before Thanksgiving. Gasp! Yes, we usually try to see Santa before Thanksgiving. My previous post shares are reasons behind visiting him before Thanksgiving.

The rest of our holiday activities usually kick off the first weekend in December, with a trip to Disney on Ice. My girl loves it! Her favorite Disney princess is Snow White! It may have something to do with the fact that, it was her birthday theme this past year. Nevertheless, it made this year the best Disney on Ice ever, because Snow White and the seven dwarves  made an appearance! Or as my daughter likes to call them – the 7 D’s!  She attended the show all decked out in her Snow White attire!

The rest of our weekends are usually spent doing different holiday activities – everything from pancake and pajama breakfast, to seeing Christmas plays, cookie decorating, and going to all the small town Christmas events.

My Pinterest searches are usually brimming with holiday cheer starting in July. I am always on the lookout for fresh new ideas and activities. There are always things I’d like to add, but of course that would mean doing away with a few others. Anyone else have that problem? You see so many cute suggestions or ideas, that it becomes hard to narrow down your holiday list?

One holiday activity I would love to add would be taking the girls on the Polar Express train ride. I think they would love it! Or even the possibility of attending the Polar Express pajama party at our theater. Of course that would mean giving up Disney on Ice. Decisions, decisions…

Another suggestion that came in this year from a fellow mama, was visiting Santa at the Macy’s in Chicago. She made it sound like it was the most magical experience ever – so of course it’s on my wish list for upcoming years. Anyone ever taken your child there? We’ve never been. It would definitely be a little bit of a journey with two little ones. But it just sounds like a truly wonderful experience.

One of our regular traditions is to go back to my husband’s hometown and attend their Christmas festivities. Unfortunately with the weather being unpredictable, it meant we were unable to attend this year.  We were all a little bummed… Luckily with my list of ideas we were able to do a few activities in place of our travel plans.

We had a Polar Express movie night. Complete with cookie making and hot chocolate!  I didn’t want to make it too complicated. So we just used the premade sheets of cookie dough and the packets of hot chocolate mix. We had the best time! ! I hope to make this a yearly tradition!

Our second activity (making a Gingerbread House) was fun, but won’t be winning us any awards! The house completely fell apart before it was even half way decorated, but my girl had a blast! Especially eating all the decorations. My friend Kelly, said we need to purchase the pre-made houses! Thanks Kelly! I will definitely do that next year!

What are some of your favorite Christmas activities? Do you find it hard to pick and choose which ones to do each year?

*This is a sponsored posted by Smallwood Home. All opinions are my own.*

I love being a girl mama, especially when it comes to dressing them! There is nothing better than donning them in frilly dresses and elaborate hair accessories. So when I was presented with the opportunity to review dresses from SweetHoney Clothing, I practically jumped at the chance!

I love companies created by parents for parents! Josh and Holly Smallwood, the creators of Smallwood Home, are some of those amazing parents! It was their love for God and family that gave life to this little dream of theirs. On love and faith they worked side by side, making this little dream flourish into a successful business.

A business that creates all kinds of amazing goodies; everything from home decor, to clothing, and accessories. Smallwood Home has something for everyone! For me, that something is,

{SweetHoney Clothing}

 Why do I love their clothing, you ask!?

Beauty

My oldest proclaimed that her dress was a “princess dress” the second she put it on and I couldn’t agree more! The carefully chosen dress patterns have a sweet and simplistic vintage feel to them. The attention to detail – such as; the trim added to the bottom of each ruffle and around the collar, gives each dress that added frilly touch!

Quality

While the dresses do have a delicate feel to them, it is easy to see that quality was at the forefront when it came to constructing these beauties! Quality was put to the test as my preschooler moved full speed ahead throughout the day. With the delicate feel of the dress I was more than a little nervous it would rip before the day was through. On the contrary! The dress has not only held up through multiple wears, but it is still in pristine condition! SweetHoney Clothing really knows how to make quality items for our busy little bees!

Comfort & Fit

No one understands comfort more than a toddler. That’s why I feel her initial reaction most accurately depicts the comfort level of the dress.

“Mommy it’s not itchy. Oh it’s soft and cozy! It’s my princess dress!”

As any parent knows, you can’t argue with the logic of a toddler. Especially when it comes to clothing or you will never leave the house!

My oldest is wearing a size 3T Whim & Wander Tiny Dancer in Scarlet. She has always been petite. Her age has always corresponded with her size of clothing. So, the 3T fits perfectly!

My 3 month old infant on the other hand is currently in 90% for height and weight. She is currently in a size 6m for clothing. Unfortunately that size was unavailable, so I hoped the 12m in Whim & Wander Juliet in Scarlet would fit. I was nervous it would be too big around the collar and under the arms. But to my surprise, it fit perfectly, with plenty of room to grow!

Twirl Factor

For my daughter, this is by far the most important aspect of any good dress! Luckily, for her, SweetHoney Clothing created this dress with the perfect amount of twirl!

Holiday Gift Guide For {Mom}

Gift cards are the golden ticket to a women’s heart! This list, although short, is a culmination of ideas for women, whether they are in mommy mode or need a little ME time. So, whether your shopping for your wife, mother, mother-in-law, daughter, or daughter-in-law, there is sure to be something for everyone!

Holiday Gift Guide For Mom

1. Mommy Mode – Shutterfly Gift Cards

I love Shutterfly! It’s the perfect place to store all those precious photos. This is #1 on my personal list, especially since I just recently decided I wanted to have hard copies of all my children’s photos. Having photographs stored digitally and in several places is great, but computers crash and thumb drives get lost. Plus, when we were kids our moms would spend a weekend going through family photos. So much history spread out on the living room floor… I don’t want my kids to miss out on those sweet and simple memories. So here I am, still working on printing photos from my 3 year olds first year on life.

2. Restaurant Gift Cards

This is great for any occasion whether its date night, girls night, or lunch with the kids! It’s nice to give moms and dads a break from the kitchen! Restaurant gift cards are perfect for date night or dinner as a family. But also consider gift cards to places children really enjoy, such as; Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, KFC, etc.

3. Movie Theater Gift Cards

Who doesn’t enjoy seeing a new release on the big screen?! My personal favorite – movie theater popcorn! Seriously, what is it about movie theater popcorn that makes it taste so much better!?

4. Gift Cards to a Salon and Spa

As moms we often get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life that we forget the simple things, like getting a hair cut. Or maybe that is just me? Either way, its nice to get in a little “me”, while feeling pampered!

So, instead of making your way through a crowded shopping center, consider purchasing a gift card for the special lady in your life! What are your go-to gifts for {her} this holiday season?
