A Story For Mother’s Day

*This is a sponsored post by StoryWorth. All opinions are my own.

Our memories are the threads with, which create the fabric of our lives. Sewn together from birth to death. Creating this metaphorical quilt. A quilt that transcends time. Those threads and fabrics are the pieces that pull together our story. Our life story.

Think about it. I mean, really think about it. When a loved one passes away, how is it they are remember? How is it possible for their story to stay alive? To keep the threads of their quilt from unraveling, like aimless strings just dancing in the wind? From being forgotten?

Sharing our story.

As a kid, I lived for those family gathering! The ones that included ice cream, volleyball, water balloon tosses, and stories! Those were the best part! My cousins and I would always sit quietly during those picnic lunches. Listening to the adults recall the stories of their past. Or good ‘ol days, (as they so vibrantly put it!) Of course the stories themselves, were always up for debate. Once a story was told my mother or one of her siblings would quickly chime in with, “No, no, no! That is not how it happened! I will tell you how it really happened!” After about two or three family members debated the original story tellers account, they moved on to the next one. You never heard the same story twice or least in the same way.

Now that my cousins and I are all off leading our own lives, those stories are no longer told. Pieces of the past are drifting away, as the fabric begins to unravel…

I am lucky though. My mom is one of the most vibrant storytellers of the family. So I was fortunate enough to hear the stories of her life year round. In fact, she still shares the threads which bind her life quilt together on a regular basis.

As Mother’s Day approaches, I am reminded just how lucky I am to still have those daily opportunities. This won’t always be the case. Someday my sister and I will be tasked with the responsibility of recounting the stories of our mother’s life, so her quilt does not unravel. So she is not forgotten. As a daughter, this feels like a momentous task.

Luckily, with this in mind, a company has created the perfect product. And on the heels of Mother’s Day, is the perfect gift.

Amara Organic Baby Food : {A Review}

*This is a sponsored post by Amara Organic Baby Food. All opinions are my own.

If you have followed my blog for any length of time, then you know I love to be in the kitchen preparing food with my girls. Now that my youngest is over 6 months old, I have been able to see the excitement on her sweet, little face as she begins to explore a new taste of life. In a previous post, I wrote all about how I create my own nutritious baby food.

While I love preparing healthy food for my children on a daily basis, it’s not always a realistic option. In fact, we are constantly on the go! Sometimes being on the go means forfeiting those healthy options for a processed jar of baby food. Yep, that’s right. We always keep a few jars in our cupboards and the diaper bag. Those jars definitely aren’t my first choice, but are sometimes necessary.

Insert Amara

Amara wanted to create an organic baby food without using any additives. In order to make that a possibility, Amara uses a drying technique. They dry their food using pressure instead of high heat. This technique allows their baby food to be preserved without losing key nutrients.

Amara Organic Baby Food is committed to creating a healthy product that is perfect for those busy parents on the go. So, when I learned I would have the opportunity to work with Amara and try out their baby food, I was thrilled! I was sent one pouch in every flavor for my sweet baby girl to try. There was nothing she didn’t enjoy!

Amara is –

  • ORGANIC
  • NON GMO
  • GLUTEN FREE
  • SIMPLE

As a mom, I couldn’t be happier. I can finally ditch the jars, for a healthier, on the go option. These pouches fit easily into the diaper bag and are quick to prepare. Pouring the contents of the pouch into a bowl, while stirring in 4 to 6 tablespoons of water. WALA! Instant, organic baby food!

Amara offers five flavorful options: Banana, Potato & Kale Mash, Tropical Mango, Apple-Maqui Berry, and Oats N’ Berries.

I love that these pouches have a long storage life and are small enough to throw in the diaper bag and take anywhere! More importantly, I can feed her something quick and simple without any of the guilty! Those jars of processed junk are officially in the trash. Amara baby food is now part of our daily routine!

What are your favorite baby foods?

Preschool Art + {Lucy Darling}

*This is a sponsored post by Lucy Darling. All opinions are my own.

There we were. The week of Spring Break in the midwest and what did we have to show for it? Giant mounds of snow and children off their daily schedules. Every kid friendly place was completely overcrowded, as parents were trying to find things to do!

Luckily, I had a plan. I stopped by Hobby Lobby the week before, picking up a series of art supplies for the occasion. In the midst of all my glorious planning, I had one of those awesome mommy moments! Come on ladies, you the ones?! In this case, I forgotten to pick up washable paints. Oh well, (said no mother ever), acrylic it is!

Materials

  • Painters tape (I used electrical tape because it’s what we had on hand.)
  • Foam brushes
  • Washable paints (If you remember)
  • Canvases
  • Stickers (To add a design. They didn’t attach to the canvases well.)

We forged ahead! Creating both a beautiful mess and timeless masterpieces that will forever hold the beauty and vibrance of the day. But, these pieces weren’t created simply to past the time. They were created with a purpose in mind. In fact, I have been saving all her preschool masterpieces for this occasion!

Decorating

I have always felt the best home decor are pieces that both inspired and brightened our day. What could be more inspiring than our children’s art work!? With that in mind, I set out to find the perfect pieces to do just that.

Last Fall, as I was picking my daughter up from preschool, she handed me two beautiful pieces of her art work. It was these brightly painted pieces that I knew just had to be displayed. So, I was beyond thrilled when I found a print by Lucy Darling! Lucy Darling’s vibrant girly print was perfect to compliment my preschoolers creations.

Lucy Darling

When I learned I would have the opportunity to work with Lucy Darling to review one of their beautiful prints, I practically jumped at the chance. It was their that I found the inspiration needed to begin decorating the girls playroom.

When it came to selecting a print, I wanted something that was both vibrant and relevant to our family. After combing through dozens of options, I finally settled on their 11×14 Honeycomb Love (Girl) Art Print. Why, you ask? Well, this particular girly print is donned with the phrase, “You Are Loved.” This sweet and simple phrase is written in every children’s book by Nancy Tillman. Who is a favorite of mine! In addition, I tell my babies daily, “You are loved and I love you!”

Haily Meyers is a graphic design artist and the mastermind behind Lucy Darling. Her inspiration began when she was expecting her first child. She created baby sticker sets to express her happiness during this new chapter of her life! After sharing her designs with those closest to her and receiving an outstanding response, she decided to open an Etsy Shop. Haily build her business from the ground up and it has grown from there! She designs quality products in the USA, with both mothers and baby’s in mind! Her prints are made from recycled materials with eco-friendly, soy based inks.

I would love to hear how you store your preschoolers art work? How did you decide to decorate your home? Is it pure style? Or family driven?

**I purchased the frame for my print from Target. I purchased the frames for the art work from Hobby Lobby.

DockATot : {A Review}

*This is a sponsored post by DockATot. All opinions are my own.

Once our sweet baby girl began napping and playing on the living room, I was nervous. Unlike the first time, we now have hardwood floors. It just seemed so uncomfortable, all that moving and playing about. Not to mention sleeping there.

DockATot

Lisa Furuland is the creator and visionary behind DockATot. Like many innovated designers, her creative genius began with the birth of her first child. Lisa’s desire and drive to find something snug and comfortable enough for her newborn son lead her to create the DockATot Deluxe (0-8 months) and the DockATot Grand (9-36 months).

The DockATot is a multi-functional item for babies and toddlers to lounge, rest, and play during both back and tummy time with supervision. It was also created with quality and comfort in mind. The DockATot was designed in Sweden, brought to life in Europe, and is OEKO-TEX Certified.

The DockATot allows my babe the ability to have both play and nap time in a snug, comfortable spot. I love having the ability to get a little blogging done, while knowing she is napping safely and comfortably at my feet. Having this product for nap time has been a life saver for me! Nap time on the floor after some big play, never lasted long and trying to transfer a sleeping baby from floor to crib was proving difficult. The DockATot has given my babe the comfort needed for a long nap! Ensuring me the ability to get things done!

As a mother, I love how it was created with us in mind. It arrives in an easy to use carrying and storage case. The case is the perfect transporting solution for those summer vacations, as well as the ability to keep it dust free while storing it for the next babe.

Do you have a DockATot? What are your solutions for nap time on hardwood floors?

Finn + Emma {A Review}

      *This is a sponsored post by Finn + Emma. All opinions are my own.

As a mother of two, I am always on the go. Getting everyone ready and out of the door on time is a huge challenge. And if I am being completely honest, we are late more often than not. Getting dressed has recently become one of those major hurtles. My preschooler, with her “I do it myself!” attitude, goes through several different options before selecting the perfect outfit and hair accessory. By the time I have gotten both of us ready, I am completely exhausted, with little time left on the clock.

{Finn + Emma}

So when it comes to dressing the baby, I prefer something simple and easy to put on. That’s why I love clothing by Finn + Emma. Not only do they make clothing easy for the busy parent, they also do it with quality, comfort, and style in mind. The material is so soft and cozy for my sweet baby girl, making it easy for her to move about.

Sizing

My six month old is in the ninetieth percentile for height and weight. Which often leaves me fumbling through her closet each morning, trying to find an outfit that will fit. I decided to air on the side of caution and request a 9-12 month instead of a 6-9 month outfit. The 9-12 months does fit, with plenty of room to grow. The pants are a tad long, so I can easily cuff them at the ankles. I am happy to report the waist is a perfect fit, even with her cloth diapers! The kimono style shirt fits perfectly and is easy to adjust. While the 9-12 month outfit will grow with her, I do believe a 6-9 month would fit her perfectly at this moment.

100% Organically Grown

Finn + Emma is a company committed to creating products that are not only comfortable and stylish, but safe as well. Their clothing is made from 100% organic cotton and eco-friendly dyes.

Finn + Emma is a company who stands with their employees. They manufacture in fair-trade settings, with the focus on social and economic independence for local people, especially women.

Gift Boxes

When I was given the opportunity to work with Finn + Emma, I was thrilled to say the least! All of their products looked so amazing, I knew the task of deciding what to review would prove difficult. Aside from a wooden teething rattle from the fairytale collection, I was stumped. So I decided to take the guess work out of the equation and allow the company to decide for me. Their gift boxes come complete with an outfit and toy, making it the most lovely gift for any new baby.

Teethers

As the mother of two little girls, I adore all things fairytale. So I knew the village wooden teething rattle was a must for my babe. The gift box itself, also contained a toy. A teething ring to be exact. Both teether’s were made in India, with indian hardwood and a non-toxic vegetable seed wax finish. The doll attached to the teething ring is made with organic cotton yarn and stuffed with sheep’s wool.

As a mom, I love knowing that what she is putting in her mouth is completely safe. My little one absolutely adores both wooden teethers! They have become her new favorite toy!

What are your favorite clothes and toys for baby? What is your idea of the perfect gift to welcome a new little bundle of joy?
