A girl and her breast pump go together like peanut butter and jelly! When your a breastfeeding mama on the go, who needs to pump, its important to find the right one. With so many options available it can be hard to know what to look for.
Luckily this isn’t my first rodeo.
That is not to say I am an expert. Far from it. The truth is breastfeeding is hard! Real hard! So I am always trying to read and watch as much as I can. When I was pregnant with my second daughter, I happened upon a Facebook Live Q & A Breastfeeding session with TheBabyGuyNYC (Jamie) and Shari Criso.
Knowledge is power!
I gained some helpful insight into the world of breastfeeding just from that first session. Especially as it pertained to pumping. Jamie and Shari were discussing the Evenflo Advanced Double Electric Breast Pump. Immediately I was impressed by some of the features. So, I was pleased to learn I would have the opportunity to review one.
Evenflo Advanced Double Electric Pump : My favorite features…
1. Battery Operated
The Evenflo Breast Pump arrived just a few days before our week of road trips. So, with the busyness of packing, I opted to open the pump after our trips. Mistake. What I didn’t realize at the time was that the Evenflo pump has the ability to run on batteries. This would have saved me the headache of trying to figure out how and when I was going to be able to pump. During our trips I was at the mercy of the outlet. Bringing a pump with battery capabilities would have allowed me the freedom to pump whenever, wherever I needed.
2. Bottle Holders
The pump unit has two cut outs to hold the bottles. This may seem insignificant, but trust me when I say it’s not. I don’t know how many times I have lost that precious liquid gold I worked so hard to pump because the bottles tipped over while I was attempting to unhook everything. Evenflo makes it so easy! Once I finish pumping they go right in the bottle holders!
My midwife explained the use of flanges and how they might make my pumping journey more successful this time. Breast pumps are not a one size fits all. Using the correct size flanges while pumping can maximize the amount of milk extracted from the breast, while making it a more comfortable experience. Evenflo created this pump with nursing mothers in mind, as they include two sets of flanges with their pump.
4. Closed Pump
Evenflo is a closed pump. A closed pump means there is a barrier between the pumps motor and milk. Thus decreasing the risk of mold and bacteria within your pump, making it more hygiene friendly.
5. Suction and Speed
Before using the Evenflo pump, I was only able to adjust both settings using one dial. Evenflo makes it better. While pumping I am able to control the speed and suction separately, customizing my pump experience each time.
6. Free Breastfeeding Class
Included with your pump is the option to watch two videos – “Simply Breastfeeding” and “Breast Pumps and Briefcases.” As a mom, the more I can learn the better. So, I find it wonderful that Evenflo has included some helpful videos to make the process easier.
