Update : {Five Months}

My sweet baby girl, how can it be five months already? I know I say it time and again, but these updates are coming all too quickly. Time moves like quicksand. I barely have time to grasp one moment before it’s gone, slowly fading from my rearview mirror…

Sweet little one, we love so much! Do you know that? Do you know how much your big sister loves to play with you?

Baby Girl – {Five Month Update}

  • Saturday, December 17th was your first family Christmas. You wore the same adorable outfit as big sister did for her first Christmas! You were perfectly happy! This was your first visit with your Great-grandparents and they loved you! Great-grandma even holding you for a quick photo.
  • Christmas Eve was your first time at Church and you very well! I feed you and you slept through most of it.
  • Big sister helped you open your Christmas Eve gift – purple footy pajamas with a monkey on them.
  • Christmas Day was a lovely First Christmas for you! I placed you in your activity seat and big sister helped you open your gifts. Your favorite gift is a teething book, “Guess How Much I Love You” that Santa placed in your stocking!
  • Sing – your first movie on Christmas Day. We feed you before we left. I held you in the theater and you fell asleep about 20 minutes into it. Then you woke up for a short time. You fussed for a moment or two, so I feed you and you went right back to sleep. Your first movie was a success!
  • In the last two months you have been moving all over your play mat and often times moving off of it.
  • Wednesday, December 28th you cut your first two teeth, the bottom two front ones!
  • Saturday, December 31st at 1:00pm you rolled over for the first time from tummy to back! I was able to snap a photo after your second time rolling over, but you haven’t allowed me to capture it on video.
  • January 3rd at 9:30am was your first cloth diaper experience.
  • When I tickle your neck, you give a deep belly laugh! It’s too cute!

Update : {Two Months Old}

Here we are baby girl, you and me in a little coffee shop while your big sister is burning off some energy at preschool. You are all wrapped up in the Solly, sleeping peaceful on my chest. What are you dreaming about little one? Are you dreaming about climbing the highest mountain? Are you flying high above the clouds, heading straight for a shooting star? Oh little one, how I wonder what your dreaming about.

As I still here, quietly tucked away in a corner, I can hear the soft sound of conversations buzzing all around us. Whenever I come here with you baby girl, you steal the show. So many compliments on your adorable little self. Your adorable little two month old self! Time is so bittersweet! You are constantly growing and changing. I just want to bottle it all up and keep it forever, but unfortunately, thats not how it works. Luckily, I can at least capture those memories through photographs, video, and writing.

So my sweet little babe, here is a

Baby Girl – {Two Month Update}

  • Friday night, September 16, you slept from 12:30am until 5:30am. This was the longest stretch you have ever slept! I woke up Saturday feeling great!
  • Sunday evening, September 18th was your first time in the 4moms infant tub. You loved it much more than the sponge baths!
  • Wednesday evening, September 28th you slept from about 11:30pm until I woke you about 8am the next morning. Since then, you have been sleeping long stretches through the night.
  • You often rustle in your bassinet throughout the evening. Its usually because your pacifier fell out.
  • Sunday evening, Oct 2nd was your first time on the play mat. You loved kicking the piano!
  • Tuesday evening, Oct 4th was your first tummy time experience! You have great head/neck strength!
  • I love when you get those little bubbles on your lips!
  • I love when your eyes widen and you give the big smiles when I pick you up!

Bump To Baby : One Month Old

I am still in awww every time I look at you and realize one whole month has gone by since your birth! It’s true, time really does move quickly.

This past weekend I spent some time packing away all of your newborn clothes. Clothes that your big sister wore for at least a few more months. Yet there I was, packing it all away just days after turning one month old… Today, in fact, you are wearing an outfit your sister wore at 4 months.

But this post isn’t about today, it’s about your first month of life. While I wrote about your first 12 days here, there are still so many other adorable things to touch upon.

Baby Girl – One Month Old

  • 12 Days Old – I wrapped you in a Solly Baby Wrap for the first time and wore you during family night through the Apple Orchard. You slept peaceful on my chest the whole time.
  • 13 Days Old – When I rub the base of your neck it puts you to sleep and you give the biggest smiles in your sleep like state.
  • You have such trouble with bottles. For some reason, half always seems to pour out of your mouth and down your neck.
  • Those stretching noises you make sound like a baby Elephant.
  • You dislike your sponge baths. {I promise we will pull out your tub this week.}
  • You love your Mamaroo! It’s been our saving grace!
  • Daddy can get you to sleep 3-4 hour stretches in the bassinet.
  • You are mesmerized by the ceiling fan.
  • You like to be awake during big sisters nap and bed time. I hold you so you won’t wake her up. Sometimes I wear you in the afternoon. That way I can cuddle you and get some things accomplished.
  • Your big sister loves to says, “I see her eyes!” “She is so cute!” “I love her so much!” “I sing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’ to her.”

I have to give a BIG SHOUT OUT and THANK YOU to Karina from AppleEyeBabyShop! As my baby girl was quickly approaching one month I realized I had forgotten to order her Monthly Stickers. So I jumped on Etsy less than a week out from her one month. I fell in love with the purple and gray stickers from Karina’s shop, as they matched her nursery colors well! I quickly emailed Karina to see if they would arrive in time. Although she could not guarantee such a quick delivery, I decided to purchase them anyway. It was my fault for waiting until the last minute anyway. So I just told myself if I was a few days late photographing her that it was no big deal. But if you know me, you would know that wouldn’t be so easy for me. But to my SURPRISE, they arrived the day before her One Month and I couldn’t be happier!

{Fresh 48} : A First Look : {12 Days New}

My blog has been rather quiet the last few weeks, as my family and I welcomed the newest addition into our family. I have been spending much of my time soaking in all this newborn deliciousness! Its such a small window of time that seems to be drawing to a close by the second…

While I now have enough post ideas to span the course of the next several months. Everything from product reviews, to preparing toddler for baby, to birth plans, parenting hacks, and everything in between. I am going to take it slow. These precious new moments as a family of four are so fleeting, that I never want to forget a minute of it.

So, I want this post to highlight some of the most beautiful, funny, and messy memories of my daughters first 12 days of life.

{Born} 11:38am

{Stats} 8 lbs. 5 oz.  20.25 in.

You were born with a head full of dark hair. I actually had a baby with HAIR! When they laid you on my chest I didn’t realize it at first. There was so much commotion in the room that it wasn’t until I overheard a doctor say, “Look at all that hair!”, that I finally zeroed in on your head. I was completely taken by surprise.

You love to be cuddled! You curl up like a little spider monkey on my chest to sleep. You would rather sleep on me than in your bassinet. So needless to say, I spend many nights sitting up in bed, holding you, while the frame of the window seal digs into my back through the pillow. But I’m not complaining. Your snuggles are the best part of my day and night!

Within your first few days home, you managed to pee on our comforter while Daddy was changing you in the middle of the night. You were 4 days fresh for your first outing. I took you to your newborn doctors appointment, while Daddy and big sister stayed home. You were perfect!

6 Days fresh you experienced your biggest outing. First up, your newborn photo session. The photographs were true perfection, but getting there was quite a challenge baby girl! You did not want to sleep and I had to feed you twice during the session, but somehow she managed to get four different setups and family photos. After a long session we visited my parents for a brief period in the afternoon. You had no trouble sleeping there! Finally, it was off to your Dad’s parents. I was hoping to take some of my own newborn poses of you out on the farm. By the time we reached their home, daylight was fading fast. I managed to get the one purple setup I wanted in front of the corn fields, before grabbing your big sister for her preschool photos. Despite the busyness of the day, it was pretty great!

9 Days fresh the outer portion of your umbilical cord came off. The doctor spray the inner portion to help protect it, while we wait for it to dry up and fall out.

10 Days fresh we took your big sister to toddler time at the library in the small town next to us. I felt like it was the perfect outing! Small town library, little parking lot – making it easier to keep hold of your big sister and you, and good friends to help if I needed extra hands! It was also my first time changing you out in public. They have nice, clean restrooms, which made the process go smoothly.

12 Days fresh you had your second doctors appointment to make sure you were gaining weight appropriately. No problems there! {9 lbs. 1 oz.} After that we headed to a small play space, so your sister could burn off some of that energy. It’s a great little space run by a couple of moms! This was also the place you had your very first blow out! After I changed you and your outfit, you then proceeded to punk all over me. You were two for two that day, as I noticed another blow out in your car seat as soon as we got back home. Needless to say, I spent the better part of your nap time cleaning the car seat, as per the instruction manual.

These past few weeks have been a little crazy to say the least, but we love every minute of it baby girl. We love every minute with you! All the poopy diapers and sleepless nights are so worth it, because {It Won’t Be Like This For Long.} So, I am going to spend my time soaking up every moment of you, of us, as a family of four!

Love,

Mama
