{Audrey’s Bear} : Personalized Swaddle Blanket

dsc_0445  *This is a sponsored post by Audrey’s Bear. All opinions are my own.

When I found out I was expecting another girl, I was elated to say the least! Being blessed with the opportunity to pull out all those tubs of adorable, frilly clothes again, made me want to burst at the seams! I was just that excited!

There was one thing weighing on my mind… Individuality.

As silly as it may sound, I didn’t want baby girl #2 to feel she was constantly living in her big sisters shadow. Only being given what her sister once used. Instead, I wanted her to know and feel we saw her as an individual right from the beginning.

So, I began my search for a few practical and reasonably priced baby items that she would be able to call her own.

{Audrey’s Bear}

When I learned I would have the opportunity to collaborate with this company I was beyond excited! Audrey’s Bear gifted my newborn babe one of their beautiful, personalized swaddle blankets.

Audrey’s Bear gives customers an array of customizable options. Once I chose my design (Multicolored Arrows), I was literally able to custom every. single. aspect. Something I have yet to find anywhere else!  I was able to select the color of the swaddle, two different colors for her name, the font style, and a different color for each of the four arrows. The company then sends a proof via email for you to approve before your swaddle is printed. This company has excellent customer service and they make the process so easy!

Magical Sleeping Powers!

I cannot get enough of this swaddle! Seriously, I wish I had a dozen of these! Audrey’s Bear designed this light-weight, soft, stretchy fabric with baby’s in mind! The first time I used it, she was tired and cranky. I thought I would never get her to sleep. Then I remembered the swaddle and thought, why not!? So I wrapped up my sweet babe and WALA! She fell fast asleep! So, now I use it all the time and I don’t leave home without it!

I love how this is not only a great, practical baby item for parents to purchase, but also a lovely keepsake!

Giving Back

I love working with companies that give back and Audrey’s Bear is no exception! They created a program called, {swaddle4swaddle}. Each time a customer purchases one of their lovely swaddles they will donate one to a baby in either the NICU or Pediatric Cancer Center. As a mom, it warms my heart to see companies like Audrey’s Bear giving back in order to make someones day a little brighter!

What are your go-to keepsake items for baby? Do you have a few for each child, showcasing their individuality?

Freshly Picked + Milestones

*This is a sponsored post by Freshly Picked. All opinions are my own.

dsc_0290

The last few weeks have been pretty busy around our house lately, as we count down these last few days of summer…

First, we had two road trips planned that were practically back to back with only a few days rest in-between. Which really didn’t provide much rest with a newborn in the house.

It’s amazing how such a tiny human can accumulate so much stuff! I mean packing for two children plus yourself is hard enough, but when one of those children is a newborn, it’s pure exhaustion. You practically have to pack up your entire house! Or at least that’s how it feels anyway, especially when your toddler is running laps around you. At one point I felt like I was in the scene from “Home Alone” where the McCallister family overslept and were running around like crazy trying to get ready and leave.

The following week was filled with so much emotion for this mama, that although there was no packing involved it felt equally as taxing. Our oldest began her first year of preschool and our baby turned one month old… I am the sappy mama who struggles with these beautiful changes. It hit me like a ton of bricks, especially as we were working on changing our daily schedule/routine to fit these new milestones. Somehow I blinked and I became a Mom of a preschooler… Somehow I blinked and a month has gone by since our baby girl was born…

Time never stops moving

Between the road trips and milestones, I feel like we are constantly on the move. It’s as though I am in a constant battle with “time”, trying to slow it down and soak it up all at once. Half the time I feel as though I am just trying to stay caught up and not let everything pass me by.

So, as a busy mama of two little girls, I am always looking for stylish products that make my life a little easier. Insert {Freshly Picked}. When I learned I would have the opportunity to work with this amazing company created by Susan Petersen, I practically fell out of my chair! I was thrilled to review their carefully hand crafted moccs for my girls!

I love companies created by moms for moms! Susan Petersen, the mastermind behind {Freshly Picked}, is one of those amazing moms. She literally built her business from the ground up with her own two hands. Spending an entire summer banging the glass out of windows, so she could take the aluminum window frames to the scrap yard. Earning $200 to begin her business venture, making quality, stylish moccasins for babies everywhere!

A {Freshly Picked} Love Affair

Why do I love Freshly Picked?

1. These moccasins stay on my newborns feet! With our oldest daughter, nothing drove me crazier than socks and shoes constantly falling off her feet! It was for this reason that I quit putting shoes on her all together. My own mother constantly voiced her concern that my daughter might become ill because I stopped putting shoes on her. So during the winter months we had to stick with footy pajamas and thick blankets. For a mama who enjoys styling her baby, this was so difficult for me! This time around I don’t have to worry about any of that! These moccs stay securely on her little feet without me having to constantly fuss with them! So come winter, her feet will stay nice and warm and I won’t have to pack away all those stylish outfits in place of footy pajamas.

2. My toddler can put these on herself! In the current phase of, “I can do it myself!”, these moccs make my life so much easier. My girl loves shoes and putting them on by herself. Which, as any mom can tell you, can slow down the process of getting out the door on time. Especially when my girl is still learning left from right. Luckily, Freshly Picked moccasins do not have a designated right and left shoe. So she can’t go wrong no matter how she puts them on!

3. Style! One of the most enjoyable aspects of having two little girls is getting to dress them! As my friends can tell you, I love to make sure they are decked out from head to toe, with outfits that match their shoes and hair accessories. With all the nostalgia I have been feeling from these current milestones, I knew I had to pair my toddlers Heirloom in Blush and Gold moccs with this “Never Grow Up” t-shirt and gold dot leggings. For my newborn, I love a cute one piece outfit that captures these ever fleeting days of summer with her Heirloom Cream and Gold moccs.

4. Quality! These beautiful moccasins were handcrafted with quality in mind! Not only do these moccasins stay on my girls feet, but they also withstand my energetic toddler. They are truly a perfect addition for her busy feet!

5. My toddler loves them and so does this mama!

Can’t find a pair of shoes to stay on your newborns feet? Need a pair of shoes to foster your toddlers “can do” attitude, while making it out the door on time? Then I definitely recommend Freshly Picked Moccasins!

4 Tips To Make Life With A Newborn Easier

The newborn stage is hard work! In the weeks since bringing our second daughter home, we are amazed at just how much we have forgotten in a few short years. Extra laundry due to all the blow outs,  the constant bottle cleaning, and then add a toddler to the mix. It can seem pretty chaotic at times.

Luckily, there are some things we haven’t forgotten that can make life with a newborn a little easier.

  1. Assurance Underpads

Say what!? This may sound like an odd item to purchase for a newborn, but I can assure you they are total worth it! Every time our daughter would have an accident while changing her, the pads would protect the changing pad and cover. This cut down on the amount of laundry we had to do. We always kept one on our oldest daughters changing pad until we potty trained her. I always keep a few in the diaper bag as well. Even though most diaper bags come with a changing pad it never hurts to have a disposable underpad on hand. Especially when you are out and about and your little one needs a change, only to find the changing area isn’t the cleanest. Laying down a larger disposable underpad is much easier then using your changing pad that will need washed immediately.

2.  Wet Wipe Container = Dirt Diaper Pail

We lived in a tiny two bedroom apartment until our oldest daughter was almost two. So we had to be selective on what items to put in the nursery. With limited space, a large garbage can or diaper genie was out of the question. So, I took the top off an empty wet wipe container and placed it on the dresser, next to the changing pad and WALA! We had a dirty diaper container. Granted it only held a few diapers before needing to be emptied, but it was totally worth not having dirty diapers laying everywhere while I changed her!

3.  Motherhood Maternity

This may sound odd, but make sure you purchase at least one item from here at the beginning of every pregnancy. Why? Well, a few reasons. First, I am fairly certain thats how Enfamil gets your information. So make sure you give Motherhood all your information(I usually give a junk email), including your due date. Don’t have one close by? No, problem! Make a purchase online. Even if your budget is super tight like mine, shop the clearance/sale rack for one useful item. Trust me, its worth it! Once your about 32 weeks along Enfamil sends you two small sample cans of formula and 4 ready to go powder sticks. They also send you $5 coupons for their cans of formula throughout the first year. Even if you plan to breast feed, its nice to have these on hand in case you need to supplement. If you don’t end up using them hopefully you can pass them to a friend.

Secondly, in the box you also receive this nice little booklet that not only talks about formula, but also touches upon baby’s first year milestones. Although I feel the booklet I received with my oldest daughter went a little more in-depth on the milestones then my current one, its still nice to have.

Finally, you receive a nice little gift the first time you shop their with each pregnancy. It’s usually coupons to different store and either a bottle or pacifier.

4.  Prescription Breast Pump

This is awesome! I didn’t learn about this until I was getting ready to leave the hospital. Ask your midwife/doctor to write you a prescription for a breast pump and take it to your medical supply store. Check with your insurance first to see how much they will cover. With my oldest we had to pay $50, which wasn’t bad at all considering how much they are at full price. With our second child we have a different insurance company and have yet to see a bill.

What are some of your favorite mommy hacks to make life with a newborn easier?

{Fresh 48} : A First Look : {12 Days New}

My blog has been rather quiet the last few weeks, as my family and I welcomed the newest addition into our family. I have been spending much of my time soaking in all this newborn deliciousness! Its such a small window of time that seems to be drawing to a close by the second…

While I now have enough post ideas to span the course of the next several months. Everything from product reviews, to preparing toddler for baby, to birth plans, parenting hacks, and everything in between. I am going to take it slow. These precious new moments as a family of four are so fleeting, that I never want to forget a minute of it.

So, I want this post to highlight some of the most beautiful, funny, and messy memories of my daughters first 12 days of life.

{Born} 11:38am

{Stats} 8 lbs. 5 oz.  20.25 in.

You were born with a head full of dark hair. I actually had a baby with HAIR! When they laid you on my chest I didn’t realize it at first. There was so much commotion in the room that it wasn’t until I overheard a doctor say, “Look at all that hair!”, that I finally zeroed in on your head. I was completely taken by surprise.

You love to be cuddled! You curl up like a little spider monkey on my chest to sleep. You would rather sleep on me than in your bassinet. So needless to say, I spend many nights sitting up in bed, holding you, while the frame of the window seal digs into my back through the pillow. But I’m not complaining. Your snuggles are the best part of my day and night!

Within your first few days home, you managed to pee on our comforter while Daddy was changing you in the middle of the night. You were 4 days fresh for your first outing. I took you to your newborn doctors appointment, while Daddy and big sister stayed home. You were perfect!

6 Days fresh you experienced your biggest outing. First up, your newborn photo session. The photographs were true perfection, but getting there was quite a challenge baby girl! You did not want to sleep and I had to feed you twice during the session, but somehow she managed to get four different setups and family photos. After a long session we visited my parents for a brief period in the afternoon. You had no trouble sleeping there! Finally, it was off to your Dad’s parents. I was hoping to take some of my own newborn poses of you out on the farm. By the time we reached their home, daylight was fading fast. I managed to get the one purple setup I wanted in front of the corn fields, before grabbing your big sister for her preschool photos. Despite the busyness of the day, it was pretty great!

9 Days fresh the outer portion of your umbilical cord came off. The doctor spray the inner portion to help protect it, while we wait for it to dry up and fall out.

10 Days fresh we took your big sister to toddler time at the library in the small town next to us. I felt like it was the perfect outing! Small town library, little parking lot – making it easier to keep hold of your big sister and you, and good friends to help if I needed extra hands! It was also my first time changing you out in public. They have nice, clean restrooms, which made the process go smoothly.

12 Days fresh you had your second doctors appointment to make sure you were gaining weight appropriately. No problems there! {9 lbs. 1 oz.} After that we headed to a small play space, so your sister could burn off some of that energy. It’s a great little space run by a couple of moms! This was also the place you had your very first blow out! After I changed you and your outfit, you then proceeded to punk all over me. You were two for two that day, as I noticed another blow out in your car seat as soon as we got back home. Needless to say, I spent the better part of your nap time cleaning the car seat, as per the instruction manual.

These past few weeks have been a little crazy to say the least, but we love every minute of it baby girl. We love every minute with you! All the poopy diapers and sleepless nights are so worth it, because {It Won’t Be Like This For Long.} So, I am going to spend my time soaking up every moment of you, of us, as a family of four!

Love,

Mama
